IPL 2025 LSG Retention List: The performance of Lucknow Super Giants in the 17th season of the Indian Premier League was mediocre. At one time, the team’s path to the playoffs was stuck in a dilemma, but in such a situation, they had to face a very bad defeat at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). With this, LSG’s hopes of getting into the top-4 were over. The Lucknow team registered 7 wins in 14 matches in the season and stood seventh in the points table. After the defeat against SRH, LSG franchise owner Sanjiv Goenka was furious at captain KL Rahul. In such a situation, questions are being raised as to which players LSG can retain for IPL 2025.
Here are 4 Player Who Should Be Retain Before IPL 2025 Mega Auction
1. KL Rahul
Under his captaincy, KL Rahul took Lucknow Super Giants to the playoffs in 2022 and 2023. Although this time his team missed the top-4, it did not have much impact on his performance. Rahul scored 520 runs in 14 matches this season at an average of 37.1. He was the highest run scorer for LSG in the season. Although he was trolled a lot for his poor strike rate, Rahul’s captaincy and personal record have also been good. Therefore, there appears to be no reason why the team should release him before IPL 2025.
2. Nicholas Pooran
Nicholas Pooran was the second-highest run-scorer for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2024. He scored 499 runs in 14 matches at an average of 62.4. Puran joined the Lucknow team in 2022 and since then he has been strengthening the middle order. Apart from playing in the middle order, Puran has also been able to play the role of a finisher. LSG’s batting has undoubtedly strengthened due to his presence.
3. Marcus Stoinis
The IPL 2024 season went very well for Marcus Stoinis. He scored 388 runs in batting while playing 14 matches. Stoinis also remained in the headlines because apart from two half-century innings, he also scored a century. Apart from this, he also took 4 wickets in bowling. Stoinis has been giving breakthroughs to the team from time to time with the ball and on the other hand, he can change the game with the bat. LSG would not want to release an all-rounder like him under any circumstances.
4. Mayank Yadav
21-year-old Mayank Yadav has been associated with the Lucknow Super Giants squad since 2022. Finally, he got the opportunity to make his IPL debut in 2024, where he won the hearts of even the cricket experts by taking 3 wickets in the very first match. He created a sensation in the cricket world by throwing the ball at a speed of 156.8 km/hr in the very second match. Mayank needs proper guidance and LSG would like to groom him as their future star bowler.
