IPL 2025 Mega Auction: The season of IPL 2025 is still far away, but the BCCI has started preparing for it. The BCCI has prepared for a meeting with the owners of all the teams. In this, there will be an in-depth discussion about the mega auction to be held at the end of this year. A big auction is to be held before next year’s IPL. It will be very interesting to see what its rules and regulations will be. Meanwhile, the big thing that is coming out now is that the purse which was Rs 100 crore till now is going to increase. That is, the teams will have more money to buy players. In such a situation, it is possible that when the auction takes place, the players will get even more money.
Not only this, a decision can also be taken on how many players the teams can retain from their old squad. Will there be permission to use the RTM card once again? At the same time, will the most discussed impact player rule continue, or will there be some changes to it? There can also be a discussion on this. An important meeting of the IPL Governing Council in Mumbai today
The IPL Governing Council meeting will be held in Mumbai this evening. All ten IPL franchise owners have also been called into this. Some big and important decisions can be taken regarding the upcoming IPL and the auction before that. In this, along with increasing the purse of the teams to Rs 120 crore, there is also a possibility of discussion on Right to Match i.e. RTM. It is believed that in the mega auction, teams can be permitted to retain their 6 old players.
Players will be auctioned this year for next year’s IPL
There will be a big auction of players for IPL 2025 at the end of this year. Before this, BCCI will discuss with the team owners to make its rules. Meanwhile, PTI spoke to many franchises and almost everyone agreed on one thing. That is, the purse of Rs 100 crore of the current team needs to be increased by at least 20 to 25 percent. An IPL franchise told PTI that I think the purse is going to increase. There should be an increase of 20 to 25 percent. In such a situation, most teams will agree to a purse of Rs 120 crore to Rs 125 crore for the franchise.
There may be a lot of tussle over player retention
The biggest issue in the meeting is going to be the retention of players. It is believed that it may be a bit difficult to reach a consensus on this matter. It is said that most teams have different needs. A big team has suggested retaining eight players including RTM. It is unlikely that most teams will not agree to this. The auction held in the three-year cycle of IPL allows the retention of four players including one foreigner. It is believed that most teams want retention between five to six. In this, consensus will also have to be reached among the teams on the retention of foreign players.
An important decision will also be taken regarding foreign players
An IPL source has said that teams like Delhi Capitals Jack Fraser-McGurk and Tristan Stubbs and Sunrisers Hyderabad Pat Cummins, Heinrich Klaasen, and Travis Head will want more than one foreign retention. The impact player rule will also be discussed in the meeting. Indian captains Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have openly criticized it. However, Chennai Super Kings get a chance to keep former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the team. Dhoni batted at number eight in many matches in the last IPL.
