IPL 2025 PBKS Retention List: Sam Curran To Harshal Patel – 4 Players to Retain Before Mega Auction!

IPL 2025 PBKS Retention List: The journey of Punjab Kings in the 17th season of the Indian Premier League was very unsuccessful. PBKS started the season with a win, but after that, like every time, there were ups and downs in the performance of Preity Zinta’s team. Shikhar Dhawan could not play the remaining matches due to an injury in the middle of the season. In such a situation, Sam Curran took over the captaincy, but even after changing the captain, the Punjab team could win only five out of 14 matches. Let us tell you that there is to be a mega auction before the next season, in which according to the current rules, a team can retain only four players. So let us know about those four players on whom Punjab Kings can bet on retention in IPL 2025. Since Shikhar Dhawan has indicated retirement, the situation regarding his future is not clear.

These are the top four players who CSK will have to retain before the mega auction of IPL 2025

1. Sam Curran

Sam Curran was given the captaincy of the team after the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on 9 April. Although Punjab was able to register only three wins in 9 matches under Curran’s captaincy, he is a young captain and PBKS must be seeing him as the future captain. If we look at his performance, apart from scoring 270 runs in 13 matches in IPL 2024, Curran also took 16 wickets. The experience of captaincy in 2024 can help Curran in the next season.

2. Arshdeep Singh

Arshdeep Singh joined the Punjab Kings squad in 2019 and has always played for this team in IPL. It is worth acknowledging that Arshdeep has now become the main and star bowler of the PBKS franchise. This season, he took 19 wickets in 14 matches and was the second-highest wicket-taker for the team. A left-arm fast bowler who can swing the new ball lethally and can bowl accurate yorkers in the death overs. Punjab would not want to release such a wicket-taking bowler.

3. Shashank Singh

Shashank Singh’s story in the Indian Premier League has been interesting. The PBKS franchise had bid on Shashank in the 2023 auction considering it to be another young player. Who would have thought that in 2024, this same player who was bought by mistake would be making a lot of noise? Shashank got fame when he played an unbeaten inning of 61 runs in 29 balls against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2024. After that, Shashank’s bat progressed such that he emerged as the new star of Punjab. Shashank has form and by moving up the batting order, he can prove to be a beneficial deal for Punjab.

4. Jitesh Sharma

Jitesh Sharma has been playing for Punjab Kings since 2022 and has become the main wicketkeeper batsman of the team. Because of him, Jonny Bairstow enters the field like a regular fielder. Although Jitesh has failed to repeat the performance of last season he is young and with the right mentorship can make him a star batsman for Punjab. Jitesh was the vice-captain of PBKS in 2024, which is a sign that the franchise wants to invest time in him for the long term.
