Before the mega auction of Indian Premier League 2025, a meeting of all the 10 IPL teams was held in Mumbai in which the owners of these teams together put forward a big demand before the IPL Governing Council. All the teams have demanded action against those players who suddenly withdraw their names after being sold in the auction. According to reports, IPL teams have demanded a two-year ban on foreign players who suddenly withdraw their names.
There are reports that all the teams are very unhappy with the foreign players. Teams say that foreign players suddenly withdraw their names after the IPL auction, which has a deep impact on the team’s performance and strategy. Due to his sudden departure, teams have to bet on other players. Teams said that if a player gets injured, he can be exempted, but many players withdraw their names due to low prices in the auction.
Now the question is, why have the franchises demanded to register names in the mega auction for foreign players? According to media reports, IPL teams believe many big foreign players prefer to register their names in mini auctions instead of mega auctions. Fewer big players come to the mini-auction due to which they have the possibility of getting a larger amount. At the same time, due to the presence of big names in the mega auction, the bid does not go much higher. For example, in the mega auction held in 2022, Ishan Kishan was sold for the highest price of Rs 15.25 crore. Whereas in the mini auction held last year, Pat Cummins was sold for Rs 20.50 crore, and Mitchell Starc for Rs 24.75 crore. The franchises also want to end this ploy of foreign players.
