Ireland’s national cricket team has announced the squad for the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2024. The 15-member squad is a mix of experience and maturity.
Not only for the T-20 World Cup, they have also announced the squad for a bilateral series against Pakistan and a tri-nation series against Netherlands and Scotland.
There is no surprise announcement regarding the selection of team members. Ireland has selected their steady and best players for all of the tournaments. Paul Starling will again lead the team. This team from Europe is in Group ‘A’. Whereas their companions are India, Pakistan, the United States, and Canada. Apart from Paul Sterling, the squad also has experienced Andrew Balbarney and George Dacrella.
There are 14 people from the remaining two squads who are in the World Cup. But only Jash Little is currently playing in IPL and because of that, he is getting rest in two series. Heinrich Malan, Ireland men’s head coach, said “We have an intensive block of T20 cricket coming up ahead of the T20 World Cup- we have seven games in fifteen days as preparation for the tournament…”, ” The squad is one that we have gradually developed and tested out over the last 18 or so months- the skills sets we need to cover are there, albeit we have allowed Josh to continue in the IPL until his side end their campaign, so he will likely to join us ahead of the big tournament“
