2007 T20 World Cup final hero Joginder Sharma has recently made a big claim about Team India’s new head coach Gautam Gambhir, saying that Gambhir will not be able to stay in this position for long. Gautam Gambhir has replaced Rahul Dravid after the T20 World Cup 2024. His debut with Team India was excellent. India whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the T20 series, while Gambhir is on his first assignment with Rohit Sharma. Joginder Sharma believes that Gautam Gambhir is not a flatterer, and he also said that some of his decisions can lead to differences with the players.
On Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Joginder Sharma said about Gautam Gambhir, “Gautam Gambhir is going to handle the team but I believe that Gautam Gambhir will not be able to last for a long time. Because Gautam Gambhir has some of his own decisions. There may be a rift with a player. I am not talking about Virat Kohli. Gautam Gambhir’s decisions are sometimes such that others do not like them.”
He further said, “Gautam Gambhir is a straight talker. He is not going to go to anyone. Gautam Gambhir is not a flatterer. We are the ones who give him credit. He does his work, does it with a true heart, does it with great honesty.”
Gautam Gambhir’s contract with the Indian team as head coach is till the World Cup 2027. During this time, Team India has to play three ICC events the 2025 Champions Trophy, the 2026 T20 World Cup, and the 2027 World Cup. Apart from this, India can also play in the final of the ICC World Test Championship.
