Star batsman KL Rahul’s place in Team India for the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh is not clear. If reports are to be believed, the selectors can choose Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, or Dhruv Jurel as batsmen apart from Rahul. After being ruled out of the T20 World Cup 2024, KL Rahul himself felt that there was no permanent place for him in the team. Meanwhile, he has made a big disclosure about his retirement in a podcast.
So let’s know what KL has to say about retirement. Recently KL Rahul has broken his silence regarding his retirement. KL Rahul’s place in the team does not seem to be permanent. He is going through such a phase in his career that if he does not perform, the doors may be closed for him in Team India.
Star batsman KL Rahul has already started preparing for his retirement. “I have no confusion in my mind,” he said in PTN Kamath’s podcast. “But, a day will come when everything will be over. This time may come very soon for me. Because players cannot play for more than 40 years. But Dhoni is still playing cricket at the age of 43 but only in the IPL.”
He further said, “A player is very excited to make his debut in his career, the day he becomes a part of the national cricket team, he is very happy. But, the day you have to announce your retirement becomes a sad day. It is difficult for everyone to retire as a player.”
On this, KL Rahul also gave his opinion and said that the end of his cricket is not far away. Speaking further on the podcast, he said, “I have only played cricket in my life and never thought that it has to end one day, for the first time I felt that it has to end one day. Now I see, the end is not far.”
