The first hour of the mega auction of IPL 2025 was quite exciting. Initially, former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer became the most expensive player. He was bought by Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore, but this record was broken within some time. Wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has become the most expensive player of IPL.
Rishabh Pant was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a huge amount of Rs 27 crore. Delhi Capitals tried RTM, but Lucknow immediately increased their amount. Then Delhi raised its hands. In this way Lucknow took Rishabh Pant for Rs 27 crores.
Right after buying the most expensive player of IPL, LSG trolled RCB with the “Sorry kid” meme on the X(Previously Twitter) platform. It was a response to a post that RCB shared while the ongoing bidding war was on. RCB shared on their X handle while bidding for Pant with a spiderman GIF and wrote “on his way to Chinnaswamy maybe?”. After snatching the wicketkeeper-Batter from RCB, LSG responded with their Doctor Strange “sorry kid” GIF.
Shreyas Iyer, who made Kolkata the champion last year, also got a huge amount in the IPL 2025 auction. Iyer was bought by Punjab Kings for a hefty sum of Rs 26.75 crore. Now Rishabh Pant is the most expensive player in the history of IPL. Shreyas Iyer is the second most expensive player. Both these players were released by their teams. Shreyas Iyer was released by KKR while Rishabh Pant was released by Delhi Capitals. Now Iyer has been bought by Punjab Kings for 26.75 crores and Rishabh Pant has been bought by Lucknow for 27 crores. It is believed that both these players can get the captaincy of the team.
