West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee declared Sourav Ganguly as the “Brand Ambassador of Bengal”. He is the former cricketer and ex-president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This happened at the Bengal Global Business Summit 2023 in Kolkata on Tuesday.

Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly has been named the brand ambassador of West Bengal by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. “We must be positive and constructive,” Mamata Banerjee said when she handed over the certificate to Sourav Ganguly.

I want to involve him as the brand ambassador of Bengal,” Mamata Didi said, “Our national anthem, which was written by Rabindra Nath Tagore, says that we are all together. We (the TMC government) don’t raise artificial walls between people. We are one from the heart despite being home to people from multiple cultures and ethnicities”.

Thanking the Chief Minister, Sourav Ganguly invited the industrialists to make big-ticket investments in the state. According to him, this has emerged as one of the most attractive investment destinations in the country. He was once the captain of the Indian national cricket team. Ganguly is one of India’s most successful cricket captains. As captain, he led the Indian national team to win the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy. He reached the final of the 2003 Cricket World Cup and the 2000 ICC Champions Trophy.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee announced a policy to boost the use of biofuels. She also announced the establishment of a new sub-sea cable landing station in the sea resort of Digha to enhance internet connectivity in the eastern region. The Chief Minister shared that the state’s economy is experiencing a growth rate of 8.41 percent. This is projected to reach USD 212 billion in the current fiscal year. Mamata Banerjee slammed the Union government for holding back the state government’s dues under various centrally-sponsored schemes.
