India vs Sri Lanka ODI series is going to start tomorrow i.e. from August 2 with the first match to be played at R. Premadasa Stadium. But before this match, the Sri Lankan team has suffered a big setback. Troubled by the injuries of the players, two more fast bowlers of the host team – Mathisha Pathirana and Dilshan Madushanka – have been ruled out of the entire series. It is being told that Pathirana is complaining of shoulder pain, while Madushanka has a hamstring injury.
Let us tell you, Dushmantha Chameera is also not in the Sri Lankan team, he is out due to illness. At the same time, Nuwan Tushara has also been ruled out of the series due to a thumb fracture. Both of these players could not play in the T20 series against India due to injuries.
At present, Sri Lanka has included right-arm fast bowler Mohammad Shiraz in the team, which has been confirmed by team manager Mahinda Halangoda to ESPNcricinfo. He said the team will also announce the inclusion of another fast bowler later on Thursday.
Binura Fernando is also recovering from the flu, due to which he will also not be available for selection.
Halangoda said, “Mathisha has a shoulder injury and since it is the same problem that he had during the World Cup last year, he decided not to take the risk.”
Pathirana was injured while fielding in the third T20 match against India in Pallekele and he left the field before bowling a single ball in that match.
Both Pathirana and Madushanka were expected to be included in the playing XI for the first ODI against India on Friday. In such a situation, the big question before Sri Lanka is who to give a chance in their place.
