Namibia on Friday announced a 16-man squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 to be held in the West Indies and the USA, which will be led by experienced Gerhard Erasmus. Although other countries have named only 15 players in their squad for the upcoming ICC tournament, Namibia has selected 16 players. It is believed that one player may be out of the final squad before May 25.
It is noteworthy that Namibia will participate in the tournament for the third consecutive time. It retained 12 of the 15 players who took part in the Africa Qualifiers. Namibia was drawn in Group B with defending champions England, Australia, Scotland, and Oman.
Namibia’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup includes fresh faces alongside their seasoned players. Inexperienced seamer Dylan Leicher, left-arm quick Ruben Trumpelmann, and teenage pacer Jack Brassell, who recently played in the ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup, have been promoted to the senior squad.
Namibia has also included 38-year-old all-rounder David VJ in its squad, who will be seen playing in the T20 World Cup for the third consecutive time for the team. Apart from VJ, players like JJ Smit and Ruben Trumpelman have also managed to find their place in Namibia’s T20 World Cup squad.

The best all-rounder John Nicole Lofty-Eaton has not got a chance in Namibia’s T20 World Cup squad. Disciplinary proceedings are going on against him, due to which the board has taken this decision. Let us tell you that Lofty-Eaton holds the record for scoring the fastest century in T20 international cricket. In February this year, Lofty-Eaton broke the record of Nepal’s Kushal Malla (on 34 balls) by scoring a century in just 33 balls in a T20 international match played in Kirtipur against Nepal.
