The opening ceremony of the 2023 World Cup will be canceled. The star-studded event was scheduled to take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 4, a day before the opening match of the tournament at the same venue. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) hosted an inaugural event in Ahmedabad with famous Bollywood stars Ranveer Singh, Arijit Singh, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shreya Ghoshal and Asha Bhosle. The event will dazzle fans with fireworks and a laser show to signal the 2023 World Cup in India.
It was initially rumored that the ICC would hold a formal briefing session for the 10 captains ahead of the event known as ‘Captain’s Day’. All the captains were scheduled to reach Ahmedabad on October 4 morning for the event. But that is not happening now. It is heard that BCCI may hold the closing ceremony instead of the opening ceremony. It should be noted that this time World Cup matches will be held in 10 cities in India. The matches will be held in Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dharamshala, Delhi, Chennai, Lucknow, Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and Kolkata. Besides Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram, practice matches are being held in Hyderabad.
According To Media reports, BCCI might organize an event ahead of the match between India and Pakistan. The match between the two arch-rivals will take place on October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Notably, the match was earlier scheduled to take place on October 15 but was later rescheduled. ICC World Cup 2023 will start on October 5. The opening match will be played between the 2019 World Cup finalists. England and New Zealand will meet at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
