The Pakistani team has announced the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Babar Azam has been made the captain of the team. At the same time, no reserve player has been kept for the T20 World Cup. Hasan Ali, Salman Ali Aga, and Mohammad Wasim Jr. have not got a chance in the team. Pakistani team is currently playing T20 series against England. The first match has been canceled due to rain.
15 players have got a chance in the Pakistani team for the T20 World Cup 2024. Of these, Abrar Ahmed, Azam Khan, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Saim Ayub, and Usman Khan will be seen playing in the T20 World Cup for the first time. Mohammad Aamir and Imad Wasim have also got a place in the team. Both of them played T20 World Cup for Pakistan in 2016 and 2021. The remaining eight players had also played in the last season of the T20 World Cup.
Abbas Afridi made it to the team at the last moment, which means that Pakistan will enter the tournament with five specialist fast bowlers. Imad Wasim, who returned from retirement for this tournament, was the left-arm spin option, while Abrar Ahmed was the only specialist legspinner.
In the press release issued by PCB, it has been said that this is a very talented and balanced team that includes young and experienced players. These players have been playing together for some time now and are well-prepared for next month’s event. Haris Rauf is fully fit and is bowling well in the nets. He will also have an important role along with other strike bowlers in the T20 world.
