Pakistani Media Claims Team India Could Be Out of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 !!

Pakistan has got the hosting of Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan Cricket Board is preparing vigorously for this ICC tournament. According to the draft schedule, the Champions Trophy 2025 will be held from February 19 to March 9 next year. But it is not yet clear whether the Indian cricket team will tour Pakistan for this tournament or not. Meanwhile, a big claim has been made by Pakistani media.

Pakistani media’s big claim on Champions Trophy

There is little possibility of Team India going to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy in 2025. In such a situation, it is believed that BCCI is planning to request ICC to organize the tournament in a hybrid model and move their matches out of Pakistan. Meanwhile, Pakistani media has claimed that the ICC should organize the entire Champions Trophy in Pakistan. Not only this, it has also been claimed that if India withdraws from the Champions Trophy, then Sri Lanka will take their place and Sri Lankan Cricket is waiting for the green signal from ICC.

Why will Sri Lanka get a place?

8 teams participate in the Champions Trophy. In such a situation, this time those teams will participate in the tournament which were successful in reaching Super-8 during the 2023 ODI World Cup. Sri Lanka was not a part of those 8 teams. If Team India withdraws its name from the Champions Trophy, then a new team will enter the tournament and according to the ICC rankings, Sri Lanka is its contender.

The last tour to Pakistan was in 2008

Relations between India and Pakistan have not been good for quite some time. The Indian team has not even toured Pakistan since 2008. Earlier, Pakistan had also hosted the Asia Cup 2023. However, due to the proposal of the Indian team, the tournament was hosted in a hybrid model, where Team India played all its matches in Sri Lanka. According to an ANI report, BCCI may ask the ICC to host the matches in Dubai or Sri Lanka. If ICC approves it, then the Champions Trophy can also be played on a hybrid model.
