Rishabh Pant becomes the captain of Lucknow Super Giants, announcement made before IPL 2025 !

In the meantime, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has also revealed their captain for the upcoming season. Rishabh Pant will be the new captain of the team and will lead LSG in the upcoming season. Lucknow Super Giants bought him for a whopping ₹27 crore at the auction, making it the highest bid in IPL history. Rishabh Pant had previously captained Delhi Capitals.

KL Rahul was the Previous Captain

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) team has been playing in the IPL since 2022. KL Rahul served as the captain of the team in 2022, 2023, and 2024. Under his leadership, the team qualified for the playoffs in both 2022 and 2023, but in 2024, they were unable to achieve that feat. Prior to the mega auction, Lucknow did not retain KL Rahul. Confirming Rishabh Pant as the captain, Lucknow’s owner Goenka said that the entire strategy for the team was built around Pant, and everything was planned with him in mind. When asked why Pant was chosen, Goenka replied, “I believe time will prove that not only is he the most expensive player in the IPL, but he will also be the best player in the IPL.” After being named the new captain of LSG, Pant expressed his excitement, saying, “It’s amazing, I am overwhelmed by everything the sir has said about me.”
