Big changes in Indian cricket. It is heard through social media that Team India captain Rohit Sharma has resigned from ODI cricket. In which situation now only he can be seen playing T20 and Tests. Incidentally, the squads for the T20, ODI, and Test series against South Africa have been announced. While Rohit is the captain of the T20 and Test teams, the captaincy of the ODI team has been handed over to KL Rahul. As a result, Rohit may not be seen in this format in the future, let alone as the captain of the ODI team.
Despite Rohit’s ‘reluctance’, the BCCI wants the 36-year-old to captain India in the next T20 World Cup. If Rohit agrees to captain India in the T20Is, the upcoming World Cup will see a member of the 2007 World Cup squad take over as captain. On the other hand, a question remains as to what will happen if Hardik returns, but BCCI officials want to hand over the captaincy to Rohit Sharma. They feel that if Rohit agrees to lead in the T20, then he will lead in the T20 World Cup.
BCCI has expressed confidence in the young team for the ODI series. This includes batsmen like Rajat Patidar, Rituraj Gaikwad, Sai Sudarshan, Tilak Verma, and Rinku Singh. Sai Sudarshan and Rajat Patidar are yet to make their international debuts. In this situation, both batsmen can make an impression in international cricket through the team led by KL Rahul. This time the neglected wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has also been given a chance.
Asia Cup and World Cup have been held this year. KL Rahul was in great form with the bat in both these tournaments. And keeping that in mind, he has been made captain as a ‘reward’. Under his captaincy, only young bowlers have been given a chance in this Indian team against the Proteas. Experienced spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is back after a long time. Also, Chinaman spinner Kuldeep, who is in the 2023 ODI World Cup squad, has been included in the squad. Among the fast bowlers are four bowlers including Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, and Deepak Chahar. All in all, the team management wants to move forward in the ODI format with youngsters in the post-Rohit era.
