Team India suffered a big blow
Opener Rituraj Gaikwad will not be able to play in the T20 series against Afghanistan. According to a media report, Rituraj Gaikwad is currently suffering from a finger injury. It must be noted that Gaikwad suffered a finger injury during the second ODI against South Africa in Port Elizabeth on 19 December. Due to this injury, he was out of the Test series after the ODI series. He was expected to return for the Afghanistan series. But in reality, it is not like that.

Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya will not be part of the Indian squad for the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan at home due to injuries. According to a media report, both Suryakumar and Hardik are expected to return to the IPL. It must be noted that Suryakumar Yadav was injured during the South Africa tour and Hardik Pandya was injured during the 2023 World Cup. This is the first white ball bilateral series between the two teams. Earlier they have only faced each other in Asia Cup and ICC events.
