Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot witnessed a heartfelt moment on the day of India vs England 3rd Test Match. The 26-year-old right-handed batsman, Sarfaraz got his debut cap in the test match. His family was there at the moment, including his father Naushad Khan, and his wife Romana. Sarfaraz was given the debut cap by former Indian team captain and veteran leg spinner Anil Kumble, all the teammates present there congratulated him. Sarfaraz ran to his family right after receiving the cap in joy. The whole stadium shared his heartfelt moment with the cricketer. Indian captain Rohit Sharma also went to his family and wished him well.
“Sir dhyan rakhna Sarfaraz ka”(please take care of my son, Sir), Sarfaraz’s father asked the captain to take care of his son and Rohit immediately consoled him, “Arey bilkul, bilkul”(yes course!)
When Sarfaraz got their debut cap, his father Naushad Khan had tears in his eyes. During this time Rohit went to congratulate the family. Sarfaraz’s father said, his son was now in the hands of Rohit, and with tear-filled eyes, he asked Rohit to take care of his son. The captain also gave a heart-winning answer. He took his hands and replied, “Now you do not need to worry about it at all. We understand this and everyone knows what you have done. We know how hard you have worked for Sarfaraz Khan, best wishes to you for this.” After this, Rohit also shook hands with Sarfaraz’s wife and congratulated her too.
For Sarfaraz, who has been trying to make his place in Team India for a long time, the day of 15th February proved to be the most memorable moment of his life.
