‘Lone Wolf’ terrorist attack threat on India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match!

The countdown for the T20 World Cup has started. This tournament is starting from June 2 according to Indian time. However, what the fans are most waiting for is the India-Pakistan match to be held in New York on June 9. Now this match is under the shadow of terrorist attack. A terrorist organization associated with IIS has released a video threatening ‘Lone Wolf’ attack. A top New York Police official has put the security personnel on high alert and warned.

Date of 9/6/2024 mentioned in the video

The British newspaper ‘Express’ was the first to report about this threat and said that the terrorist organization has threatened to target many grounds in Europe including Wembley Stadium (football stadium) in London. In fact, in the video posted by ISIS-K on a British chat site, there was a picture of the Nassau Cricket Stadium located in Eisenhower Park and drones were seen flying there. The date of 9/6/2024 was mentioned in the video. India-Pakistan T20 World Cup match is also to be held on the same day.

Lone wolf attack threat

Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said that in the viral video the terrorist group has threatened a ‘lone wolf’ attack. ‘Lone wolves’ are members associated with terrorist organizations who operate independently without permission from the organizations, making them more difficult to track. Ryder said additional police officers would be deployed to the cricket stadium at Eisenhower Park. He said, ‘When it comes to the safety of the residents here, we will investigate closely. The video posted in a chat group by ISIS-Khorasan (ISIS-K), the Islamic State terrorist organization active in South and Central Asia, did not provide any specific information about the threat level.

“When you have a big-scale match and a crowd like this, every lead is believable,” Ryder said. He said that he had received threats in April also and even then it was ISIS-K who had issued the threats. He said that ISIS-K has not revealed the name of the place, but has shared a picture of the stadium and the same place there.

Statement from New York Governor Kathy Hochul

On Wednesday, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said that she has instructed the New York State Police to remain alert and enforce the strictest security arrangements. Along with tightening the security arrangements, instructions have also been given to deploy police in large numbers, monitor the city and make the screening process more stringent.

Nassau Stadium has a seating capacity of 30 thousand people

The Nassau County International Cricket Stadium has a seating capacity of 30,000. It is specially designed for the T20 World Cup 2024 tournament. This stadium will host the upcoming T20 World Cup along with another stadium in Dallas. Team India has to play all its matches in America only.
