On Friday, when the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) announced a reserve day for the India vs Pakistan match in the Super-4 of the Asia Cup 2023, this decision was widely criticized in the circles of cricket. Actually, apart from the India vs Pakistan match, no reserve day has been kept for any other match of Super-4. In such a situation, it was said that the teams of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka present in Super-4 would be very angry with this. But now for the first time, the reaction of the cricket boards of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka on this decision of ACC has come to light. Both the boards say that ACC has taken this decision with the consent of all the teams present in Super-4.
Sri Lanka Cricket Board tweeted, “The reserve day for the India-Pakistan competition of the Super 11 Asia Cup Super 4 stage was taken in consultation with the boards of all the four teams present in the Super 4.” Therefore, ACC made changes in the playing conditions after everyone’s approval.
Bangladesh Cricket Board wrote, “A reserve day has been added for the India-Pakistan match in the Super 11 Asia Cup Super 4 stage, which has effectively modified the playing conditions of the Asia Cup. To clarify the situation, this decision has been taken with the consent of all the four teams participating in Super-4 and ACC.”
Let us tell you, now in the tournament, apart from the match between India and Pakistan, there will be a reserve day for the final match. Team India has to play the first match of Super-4 against Pakistan on 10th September. This match will be played in Colombo and there is a 90 percent chance of rain on this day. If this match is not completed on the 10th then this match will be completed on the 11th of September.
In this situation, Team India’s schedule will become very busy. Actually, India’s next match is against Sri Lanka on 12th September. If the India vs Pakistan match continues till September 11, then Team India will have to play matches for three consecutive days.
