Sri Lanka has announced its 15-member squad for Asia Cup 2023. Prior to this tournament, the Lankan team was seen in a lot of trouble due to injuries to many of their key players, due to which they made the announcement of their team too late and only a day before the start of the tournament. However, in spite of this, he has not received any special benefit and in this tournament, four big Sri Lankan players Wanindu Hasaranga, Lahiru Madushanka, Lahiru Kumara, and Dusmantha Chameera are not going to be seen.
Announcing the team, Sri Lanka Cricket has informed that Kusal Perera has returned to their team after two years. However, this player has not yet joined the team due to flu and he will be able to join the team only after he is completely healthy. If we talk about injured players, Wanindu Hasaranga was seen in amazing form in the Lanka Premier League, but in the meantime, he suffered a thigh strain, due to which he will now miss the big tournament of the Asia Cup.
The team’s gun bowler Dushmantha Chameera is also injured. Whereas Madushanka got injured during the practice match last week. Lahiru Kumara will also miss the Asia Cup due to a side strain. Significantly, the Asia Cup 2023 is going to start on August 30 i.e. tomorrow with the match played between Pakistan and Nepal. The same Sri Lanka will start its journey in the Asia Cup by playing a match against Bangladesh on 31 August.
