Sri Lanka defeated India by 110 runs in the third ODI. With this win, Sri Lanka won the three-match ODI series 2-0. For the first time since 1997, Sri Lanka has won the ODI series against India. Batting first at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka scored 248 runs in 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets in the third ODI against India, in response to which the Indian team could only score 138 runs in 26.1 overs. The Indian team, which came out to chase the target of 249 runs, got the first setback in the fifth over.
Shubman Gill was dismissed after scoring 6 runs in 14 balls. Captain Rohit Sharma was dismissed after scoring 35 runs in 20 balls. Rishabh Pant returned to the pavilion after scoring 6, Virat Kohli 20, and Axar Patel 2 runs. Shreyas was dismissed after scoring 8, Riyan Parag 15, and Shivam 9 runs. Washington Sundar was dismissed after scoring 30 and Kuldeep Yadav 6 runs. For Sri Lanka, Dunith Vellalaage took the maximum of five wickets. Mahesh Theekshana and Jeffrey took 2-2 wickets.
Sri Lanka, who came to bat first, got off to a great start from openers Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando. There was an 89-run partnership for the first wicket between the two. Pathum was dismissed after scoring 45 runs in 65 balls. After this, there was an 82-run partnership in 94 balls between Kusal Mendis and Avishka. Riyan Parag broke this partnership by sending Avishka to the pavilion.
Avishka was dismissed after scoring 96 runs. Captain Charith Aslanka was also dismissed by Parag. Siraj showed Sadir the way to the pavilion. Zenith could score only 8 and Dunith could score only two runs. Riyan Parag took three wickets for India. For Sri Lanka, opener Avishka Fernando scored a maximum of 96 runs.
