The T20 World Cup 2024 is starting from June 1 on the soil of America and the West Indies. Now the Netherlands team has announced the squad for the T20 World Cup. Scott Edwards has been made the captain of the team. Many senior players have not got a place in the team. These include Roelof van der Merwe and powerful batsman Colin Ackerman. The selectors have expressed confidence in the youth instead of these players.
Netherlands head coach Ryan Cook said,” We have been able to select a well-balanced team and we are confident that we will be able to perform well in the conditions against the opponents we face in the US and West Indies. All the players are training well.” The Netherlands has performed well in the recent series.
Spinner Tim Pringle, young fast bowler Kyle Klein, and opener Michael Levitt have got a chance in the Netherlands team. Levitt is in great form. He has performed well for the Netherlands team for some time now. He scored a stormy century against Namibia in the tri-series played in Nepal. Then he hit 11 fours and 10 sixes in his innings of 135 runs in just 62 balls. Scott Edwards is present as the wicketkeeper. Star all-rounder Bas de Leede has also got a place.
The Netherlands team is in Group D. Apart from the Netherlands, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Bangladesh are present in this group. The Netherlands team will play its first match against Nepal on June 4. The team will play matches against South Africa on 8 June, Bangladesh on 13 June, and Sri Lanka on 17 June. All teams can make changes in their squad till May 25. After which any change will require permission from the ICC’s Event Technical Committee.
