India’s star batsman Virat Kohli did not accompany the team to Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday for his second ICC World Cup 2023 practice match. Based on a Cricbuzz report, Kohli flew to Mumbai from Guwahati after getting permission from the team management and is expected to join his teammates on Monday.
The Indian team was in Guwahati on Saturday for its first practice match against England. However, the match could not be played due to rain and both the teams did not get a chance to practice.
India will play the Netherlands in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday for their second warm-up match. “Virat will rejoin the team soon,” a source was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz. Meanwhile, the rest of the players reached Kerala city on Sunday evening after a four-hour flight.
Meanwhile, the weather in Thiruvananthapuram did not help either team during the practice match. The India vs Netherlands match is also likely to be affected as rainy weather continues from east to south.
Earlier, Afghanistan vs South Africa and Australia vs Netherlands matches also had to be canceled due to rain. Meanwhile, India is yet to take the field for practice as their match against England was also abandoned without a single ball being bowled.
