Virat Kohli Announces Retirement from One Cricket Format, Sachin Tendulkar Reacts

Great Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has expressed happiness over star batsman Virat Kohli breaking his record of most ODI centuries. Apart from this, regarding the ongoing speculations about the future of Virat Kohli, Tendulkar commented that there is still a lot of cricket and runs left in Virat’s illustrious career.

Despite India suffering another heart-breaking defeat in the ICC World Cup final held on home soil, Virat’s stellar performances and consistency throughout the tournament have left a good impression. He consistently broke batting records whenever he stepped on the field, resulting in him becoming the first batsman to score 50 ODI centuries.

Tendulkar expressed happiness that this milestone established by an Indian is still in the hands of Indians. The legendary cricketer is optimistic about Kohli’s future contribution to Indian cricket.

“I am very happy that he was able to do that,” Sachin said in a video by ESPN Cricinfo. I am sure his journey has not stopped. There’s a lot of cricket left in him, a lot of runs left in him. A lot of hunger and desire to achieve more is still left for the country. I am happy that the record remains with India. I have always said that the record belongs to India and it will remain with India.”

Virat became the highest run-scorer batsman of the Cricket World Cup 2023. In 11 matches, he scored 765 runs at an average of 95.62, which included three centuries and six fifties. His best score was 117 runs.

Virat scored the most runs in a single season of the Cricket World Cup, surpassing Sachin’s total of 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup. He also left Sachin behind in terms of registering the highest score of more than fifty in a World Cup. This year, in 27 ODI matches, Virat has scored 1,377 runs at an average of 72.47 and a strike rate of more than 99. He has scored six centuries and eight half-centuries in 24 innings, with a best score of 166*.

Let us tell you that Virat has been rested from the T-20 for Australia and T-20 for South Africa and the ODI.
