The Delhi High Court is scheduled to review a public interest litigation that is seeking the dismissal of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The PIL is seeking his removal from his current position as the head of the government of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. It is notable that, the plea will be heard by a division bench which is headed by Chief Justice Manmohan of the Delhi High Court.
The plea has been filed in the Delhi HC by one Surjit Singh Yadav. In the plea, Yadav Has claimed said that Kejriwal’s continuation in the chief minister post would not only end up to the obstruction of due process of law and disrupt the course of Justice, but it will also be the cause of the breakdown of the constitutional work of the State.
Yadav has also said that if Kejriwal continues as the chief minister, it would not only lead to obstruction of due process of law and disrupt the course of Justice, but also will somehow be the reason of the breakdown of constitutional machinery in the State. he also said that Kejriwal, who has been accused of a financial scandal and many more controversies, should not be given permit to continue in public office anymore.
Meanwhile, Delhi Education Minister Atishi said, “We are fighting against the illegal arrest of Kejriwal. His arrest is not just an attack on the AAP but an attack on the democracy of the country. After announcing elections, you (BJP) systematically put all opposition leaders in jail.” She questioned the BJP-ruled Centre and said “You froze opposition parties’ bank accounts. You seized the offices of other parties. If you attack the opposition in this way, how will the opposition contest elections? If the opposition cannot contest elections, how will democracy survive in this country?”
