In a huge development in the Delhi liquor policy case, the enforcement department has arrested BRS leader K Kavitha. She was arrested in Hyderabad and taken to Delhi. Miss Kavitha is a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) in Telangana and she is also happened to be the daughter of Bharat Rashtra Samithi chief and former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao! However, She was questioned in this case last year too, but she had skipped two summons this year.
K Kavita’s lawyer claimed that it is “Classic Case Of Abuse Of Power”!
After landing in the Delhi airport , around midnight, Miss K Kavita was taken to the agency’s office. There at first some medical tests were done. The agency is seeking remand for custodial interrogation of this former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter, Miss K Kavita. Although in court, the agency had argued that they have enough evidence to arrest and interrogate this leader.
However, K Kavitha’s lawyer, has claimed on the court that this is a “classic case of abuse”. After her arrest, Ms Kavitha’s brother and former Telangana minister KT Rama Rao in a post on X said, “Abuse of power and institutional misuse to settle political scores is something that has become increasingly common with BJP government in last 10 years. ED needs to answer the Supreme Court on the inordinate rush to arrest when the matter is very much sub-judice and up for review in a couple of days, on the 19th of March. What’s even more appalling is the ED undermining its own undertaking given to the Hon’ble Supreme Court. Justice shall prevail and we will continue to fight legally.”
