Compensation of Rs. 3.72 Lakh to Be Paid
According to a report from TOI, the court has found Ram Gopal Varma guilty under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act. The court has also directed him to pay a compensation of Rs. 3.72 lakh to the complainant.
What the Magistrate Said While Sentencing Ram Gopal Varma
While sentencing Ram Gopal Varma, Magistrate Y.P. Pujari said, “There is no question of a set-off under Section 428 of the Criminal Procedure Code, as the accused has not spent any time in custody during the trial.”
The Case Has Been Ongoing Since 2018
In fact, a case was filed against Ram Gopal Varma’s company in 2018. The filmmaker has been facing financial difficulties for some years, as his films have not been performing well. In this case, Ram Gopal Varma was granted bail in June 2022 after providing a personal surety bond and paying a cash bond of Rs. 5,000.
