Manipur Lok Sabha polls: Vandalism, shooting started during voting!

Multiple vote stations of many districts in the Inner Manipur constituency  has witnessed  disturbing incidents during voting. While the voting was going on, violence, chaos started and it spread concern and scare among the voters and officials. Incident happened at a polling station in Thamanpokpi, which is under the Moirang Assembly segment. As per latest reports, miscreants opened fire at that place then voters started running for life. The shooting started a huge panic among the voters and even the officers who were present at the polling station.

Violence Erupted and shooting started in Inner Manipur Constituency Polling Stations!

Manipur is now has been captured by the clashes between the tribal Kuki and the dominant Meitei communities. 219 people died because of the recent violence and  60,000 people got became homeless. The members of the Meitei community has 60% of the state’s population and they are concentrated in the Imphal Valley. The first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha election began on Friday. 102 parliamentary constituencies within the 17 states and four Union Territories going take part in the first phase of the polls. Voting is also going on for the 92 Assembly seats in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.

The peace of the polling process got shattered with gunfires, which started at a polling station in Thamanpokpi, that is originated under Moirang AC in Bishnupur district. According to the latest reports the gunshot and chaos incident caused deaths, casualties. It became huge, the authorities had to sent reinforce security measures to control the situation in the area. Even after the huge incident, the election authorities Nd officers remained calm and completed the voting process , with their commitment to complete a fair and transparent election.

Besides Manipur, the states that are voting in the first phase are Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
