The terrorist who is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore, got arrested. He had also visited Pakistan. He was carrying a bounty of Rs 5 lakh while getting arrested. This Hizbul Mujahideen member is named Javed Mattu and he was arrested in New Delhi on Thursday.
It is reported that Mattu has been thoroughly connected with not only one or two but multiple terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir. He has been a number one wanted terrorist by security agencies for the past 13 years and an award of 10 lakh rupees is fixed on his head. He was in the Delhi NCR region to collect arms and ammunition that day when he got arrested. Those arms and ammunition were going to be used for a series of terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir. As was said by Special Commissioner of Police Special Cell H.G.S. Dhaliwal.
He has said, “Mattu got caught in the radar of the special cell and Central agencies as they had doubled the security given the upcoming Republic Day.” Notably, Mattu is the only surviving terrorist from Jammu and Kashmir who is under the ‘A++’ category. A++’ categorized terrorist means they are the first on the “hit list” of security forces. Hizbul Mujahideen is one of 32 outfits explained under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, of 2002.
A video went viral on social media platforms ahead of Independence Day last year. In that video, Javed’s brother, Rayees Mattoo, was seen waving the national flag in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore.
According to the NIA, Mattu had been under the radar of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for some time. MATTU is a resident of Sopore in the Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been connected with multiple blasts, five grenade attacks, and several attacks on police stations and public servants.
