Republic TV Journalist Dragged and Arrested While Reporting on Sandeshkhali !!

The island named Sandeshkhali which is in the West Bengal Sundarban forest area, has been on the edge over the past week. Numerous women brought allegations against this local Trinamool Congress official. Started from this now things have gotten way messier. Reporter Santu Pan of Republic TV, who was reporting from Sandeshkhali, got arrested while reporting!

It is a big assault on the media, Republic Bangla reporter, who is named Santu Pan was dragged by the local police, at that time when he was reporting on the breakdown of law and order in Sandeshkhali! “I’m being arrested by the police for conducting interviews with the mothers of Sandeshkhali,” reporter Santu Pal stated when he was forcefully dragged by the police. In the video of the incident, many heavily armed police officers were seen pushing and handling this poor journalist roughly before taking him away. When Santu was being dragged he also said, “There is no democracy left in Bengal anymore. I want everyone in this country and world to see.”

Bengal BJP state president, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar said about this matter on X. He has posted “Today, the WB Police arrested @BanglaRepublic Reporter Santu Pan from Sandeshkhali for reporting on the atrocities being faced by the locals. This is a massive, inhuman, and direct attack on the fourth pillar of Democracy.”

Republic TV’s most famous Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami has said, “My reporter was not allowed to take public transport, was made to stand for three to four hours in one place, after which he was physically dragged without being served any notice. Even a murderer is given a chance to prove his innocence.” The channel has claimed in a statement that the police had unlawfully detained a Republic Bangla reporter only to uncover “truth” in the Sandeshkhali case!
