The network of cyber criminals is spread on YouTube. A person from Nagpur has lost Rs 77 lakh by falling into this trap. The trap of robbing people has been spreading through YouTube for quite a few time. You won’t even know and your bank account will be empty within a few minutes of watching the video.
A 56-year-old man, who’s a resident of Nagpur, Sarikonda Raju, fell victim to a cunning fraudster who managed to con him out of a staggering Rs 77 lakhs.
The fraudulent scheme involved persuading Raju to earn money by merely “liking” videos on the popular platform, YouTube.
The police on Sunday registered a case against the unidentified accused under Indian Penal Code section 420 (cheating), an official from the police station said. A case under Sections 420 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code read with Sections 66 (c), and 66 (d) of the IT Act was registered by Cyber Police Station. The man then filed a police complaint against the unidentified fraudster, the official added. this kind of fraud has been reported from across the country nowadays a lot. Online job scams have been on the rise and people are losing thousands of money. The scammer purportedly posed as an opportunity-seeker and convinced Raju to send screenshots of YouTube channels he had “liked” as part of this so-called money-making venture. The fraudster managed to steal Rs 77,04,824/- from Raju’s bank account and later transferred it to another undisclosed account.
The crime branch arrested a bookie on Sunday, named Sagar Banode, from a flat at Gadge Nagar on Ramna Maroti Road while he was accepting bets on the World Cup match between India and Pakistan.
