According to the police, a man and his wife committed suicide by consuming poison. This happened some hours after the wife was gang-raped in a village of Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district. The man was 30 years old and his wife was 27 years old. the husband died the same day and the wife died at a hospital after fighting with death in Gorakhpur on Friday, Basti SP Gopal Krishana said on Saturday.
the wife was gang raped by the two men in her house in the Rudhauli police station area. Based on a complaint by the brother of the dead husband, an FIR was filed against the two men under Sections 376 D (gang rape ) and 306 (abetment to suicide). The accused are arrested by the police, they are Adarsh (25 years old) and Triloki (45 years old). The couple had two children ( eight years old and six years old) who said that their parents told them that they had taken poison and going to die.
The incident happened on Wednesday at 9.30 pm after the couple returned home from Sattenapalli on a motorbike after attending a wedding function. They were stopped by some men near the Paladugu crossroads. The couple was first assaulted and robbed of their money and gold jewelry. After that, the woman was dragged to the nearby field, where she was allegedly gang-raped by the men. Rashmi (the victim) was raped by these two men in front of her husband and children. Before allegedly committing suicide, the couple recorded a video in which they mentioned the names of the accused. The police investigation says that this rape is connected to a land dispute between the victims and the accused.
