Delhi Education Directorate has asked teachers not to use mobile phones in classes, labs and libraries. In a circular issued by the Directorate of Education, it said, “Teachers and other staff should avoid using mobile phones while teaching children in classrooms and laboratories and in libraries.” The circular called upon teachers to create a more conducive environment for studies and directed them to use the smart boards, projectors and ‘K-Yan’ devices available in the school. ‘K-Yaan’ (Knowledge-Yaan-Vehicle) is a device that converts a computer and a projector into a single device and projects it onto a wall or plane surface.
Apart from this, guest teachers of government schools of Delhi will no longer have to do CBSE and election duty. Regarding this, the Directorate of Education has issued a circular saying that ‘Guest teachers have been appointed temporarily on the vacant posts of teachers in schools and their tenure is also not fixed. For this reason, they should be kept away from long tenure or special duties like elections and CBSE related tasks.
An old DOE circular stated that, parents should ensure that their children do not bring mobile phones to the school premises. If students bring mobile phones to school, the school authority should make arrangements to keep them in the locker and return the mobile phones to the students after dismissal.
