“Counting goes on for months in some of the countries of the world”- Rajiv Kumar

Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that questions were raised on us as to how the voting figures increase after 5 pm? How do crores of votes increase? It has to be kept in mind that Sector Magistrates collect voting data between 9:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm. Form 17-C is given at the time of completion of voting. Only when the officer collects all the machines by 7:30 in the evening, the final figures of his polling station can be known, whereas we are asked to give the figures only at 6 o’clock. People forget that in big countries of the world, counting of votes is going on for a month or so.

EVMs foolproof device for vote counting: Election Commission

Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that there is no evidence of unreliability or any flaw in EVMs. There is no question of virus or bug in EVMs. There is no question of illegal votes in EVMs. No fraud is possible. The High Court and the Supreme Court are continuously saying this in different decisions, what else can be said? EVM is a foolproof device for counting votes. The allegations of tempering are baseless. We are speaking now because we do not speak at the time of elections.
