Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced the end of Sunday holidays, arguing that Sunday aligns with Christian culture rather than Hindu traditions. This controversial move has ignited a heated debate across the nation, with many questioning its impact on established routines and traditions. Modi stressed the importance of adopting practices that reflect India’s Hindu heritage!
In a fiery address at an election rally in Dumka on Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the JMM-led ruling alliance in Jharkhand. Modi accused the alliance of “patronising” infiltrators, who he claimed are causing a decline in the tribal population in the Santhal Parganas region and putting local women at risk. Modi’s comments came as he highlighted the pressing issue of infiltration, which he says is a major crisis for Jharkhand. “The Santhal Parganas is facing the challenge of infiltration. In many areas, the population of tribals is declining fast and the number of infiltrators is on the rise,” Modi stated emphatically.
He alleged that these infiltrators are not only grabbing tribal lands but also endangering the safety and security of tribal women. “Tribal daughters are the target of infiltrators. Their security and safety are at risk. Their lives are also at risk,” he added. The Prime Minister also touched upon the sensitive topic of “love jihad,” a term he claimed was coined by the people of Jharkhand. He said there have been efforts in one district to change the weekly holiday from Sunday, which is significant to the Christian community, to Friday, further stoking religious tensions. “A big crisis looms over Jharkhand and that is infiltration,” Modi warned, urging the electorate to consider these issues seriously. He accused the JMM-led government of not doing enough to protect the tribal population and instead, encouraging the infiltrators.
