How Rhea Chakraborty Spent 28 Days in Jail: Opens Up About Her Life Behind Bars After Three Years

Rhea Chakraborty faced a lot after her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide in 2020. The actress was targeted on social media and was even called names by a section of netizens. After Sushant Singh Rajput died by suicide on June 14, 2020, his former girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty had to face a lot of criticism. The actress was at the receiving end of vicious media coverage and trolling. She was in the Byculla jail for 28 days on charges of procuring drugs for the late actor!

She has been associated with the label ‘chudail (witch)’ after the death of her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput!

When she was asked if she gave drugs to Sushant, Rhea said that she was “done with this topic. I don’t want to talk about drugs, I don’t want to talk about NCB. I don’t want to talk about CBI”. 

Recently in an interview, Rhea was asked about her struggling time in jail. In a video, shared by her, the actor replied, “So, you are removed from society and put as a number in prison because you are deemed unfit for society. So there itself, this personality or these things you’ve created about yourself are completely broken.” Rhea also said that she was at an under-trial prison where everyone was innocent until proven guilty.

“the day I get bail I’ll dance,” said Rhea.

Recalling the day when she got bail, Rhea said, “So the day I got bail, my brother didn’t get bail and I was devastated. It was the only day that I broke down completely and I had promised all the girls ki jis din bail hogi us diun nachungi (the day I get bail I’ll dance). Bail ho gayi but I wasn’t happy. So I refused them at first and when the jailer came and told me mat karo tum, chhod do (don’t do it, leave it) I was like haan haan (yeah ok). But then I thought that I was leaving and I was probably never gonna see these women again and if I could give them five minutes of happiness with the dance performance with them, then why the hell not!? And I did. It was the most ecstatic moment of my life. We did the naagin dance on the floor.”

Rhea was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in September 2020. Then she was shifted to the Byculla jail where she spent almost six weeks. She is now out on bail and the matter is sub judice at the Bombay High Court.
