Worli Police on Friday registered a case in connection with a threatening message received by the Mumbai Traffic Police, demanding Rs 5 crore as extortion money from Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

Mumbai Police had said that a threat message had come on Mumbai Traffic Police’s WhatsApp number, demanding Rs 5 crore from actor Salman Khan “to end his long-standing enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi”.
The person sending the message claimed to be close to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and said that he would put the actor’s life in danger if the extortion money was not paid. The sender claimed, “Don’t take it lightly, if Salman Khan wants to stay alive and end his enmity with Lawrence Bishnoi, he has to pay Rs 5 crore.
The incident comes in the backdrop of the recent murder of Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddiqui. Earlier on Thursday, Mumbai Police arrested Shiv Kumar Gautam and a lookout circular (LOC) was issued for Akhtar, who had opened fire on NCP leader Baba Siddiqui. Mumbai Police had earlier issued a lookout circular only against Shubham Lonkar.
According to the police, information about the accused has been given at every border and airport and the search for the accused is going on. So far, Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested four accused, while three are still absconding, whom the police are actively searching for. NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Siddiqui was shot outside his office in Nirmal Nagar. He was hit by two bullets in the chest and was taken to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for emergency treatment, where he died on 12 October.
