The full solar eclipse that happened on April 8, is part of a repeating pattern of eclipses that last visited North America in 1970. This will visit again in 2078. Which means today was a lifetime opportunity of everyone’s life to enjoy this solar eclipse. Do you know why this happens only after 54 years? Here’s the reason of why the same eclipse repeats every 54 years.
When the moon’s central shadow races at more than 1,500 mile per hour that calculates to 2,400 km/h across North America it makes this solar eclipse that happened on 8 April 2024. This is both unique and part of a progressing cycle. This path of the moon’s dark shadow across the face of the Earth gets narrowed at just 115 miles or 185 kilometers wide. It crossed parts of Mexico, the U.S. and Canada and this was a never going to be repeated route across the continent, that lasted for just 100 minutes.
Only the viewers within that path had ll experienced the darkness during the full daytime. This solar eclipse also caused temperature dropping and nocturnal animal behavior. But those weavers who are only from within that path had witnessed that full eclipsed sun’s beautiful corona with the naked eye. The eclipse will happen on the intervening night of April 8th and 9th only. Although the exact timings can vary slightly depending on location, but the core event spans from approximately 9:12 pm on April 8th to 1:25 am on April 9th. However, the magic truly happens during totality, a breathtaking 7 minutes and 50 seconds where the sun vanishes completely and becomes night like in full daytime .
