So far, it has been reported that 16 people, which includes 14 schoolchildren and 2 teachers, has died. This fatal incident happened on Thursday, when a boat turned over in the Harni lake on the outskirts of Vadodara city in Gujarat. Not only in Gujarat, but the entire country is mourning for them.
Vadodara MP Ranjanben Dhananjay Bhatt said strict action will be taken against for those , who are responsible for the mishap!
“A boat carrying school students, who came here on a picnic, overturned in Harni lake in the afternoon. The fire brigade has so far rescued seven students, while search is on for the missing ones,” said Vadodara’s chief fire officer Parth Brahmbhatt. The boat was carrying a number of 27 students and they were being guided by their teachers, the whole group was actually out on a picnic. Chief minister Bhupendra Patel has reached the site, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office has announced ₹2 lakh worth ex gratia. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000 each.

“Till now, 14 children and two teachers have died in the tragedy. One student, who was rescued, is undergoing treatment at SSG Hospital,” this is said by an official of the Harni Police Station. Chairman of the Standing Committee, Vadodara Municipal Corporation, Dr Sheetal Mistry has said, “Around 35 people were on the boat, perhaps more than its capacity. The boat lost its balance and capsized. There were no safety measures…”
President and Congress chief has expressed deep grief for death of those innocent students!
Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge Has expressed condolences about this fatal incident. Mallikarjun has requested the state government to make the hardest effort to save those children who are still missing after the accident. “Many students are still reported missing in this accident. Gujarat government and administration are requested to expedite the relief and rescue operations and make every possible effort to save the lives of the students,” kharge posted on Twitter.
President Draupadi Murmu expressed her deepest condolences to the family members and wished for the success 1of the rescue operation.
