Five people were injured after a furious fire broke out. The reason for the fire was an LPG gas cylinder blast. The incident happened in the Bandra area of Mumbai in the wee hours of Saturday. The fire incident took place at Fitter Galli, Gazdhar Band Road, Bandra.
As soon as information about the fire was received, the fire vehicles reached the spot. They brought the fire under control at 6.40 am. The injured have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The explosion was started in an LPG gas cylinder, after the initial investigation.
The explosion took place on November 18, Saturday, this morning. The whole area was shocked after hearing the explosion. Locals informed the fire brigade that the cylinder exploded and it eventually started the fire. Then the fire brigade immediately reached the spot and started extinguishing the fire.
Reported eight injured people with varying degrees of burns. The list of injured ones includes Nikhil Jogesh Das (53), facing burns covering 35% of his body, Rakesh Ramjanam Sharma (38) with burns accounting for 40%, Anthony Paul Thengal (65) sustaining burns constituting 30%, Kalicharan Majilal Kanojiya (54) dealing with burns covering 25% and Shan Ali Zakir Ali Siddiqui (31) facing burns across 40% of his body.
Samsher (50) has been admitted to the male surgical ward with super facial burns. Sangita (32) has minor injuries and is receiving care in the Female Ortho Ward. Seeta (45) has chosen not to be hospitalized despite sustaining injuries. All individuals are reported to be in stable condition and have been admitted to the male surgical ward at Bhabha Hospital, Bandra.
Deputy Medical Superintendent of Bhabha Hospital, Dr Sanjay Patil, said “All patients are admitted to the ICU. Two of them are minors. The victims are in a critical condition having suffered extensive burn injuries that we believe is as a result of a gas cylinder blast.”
