Bengaluru Water Crisis: 24-Hour Supply Halted from February 27th Ahead of Summer

Bengaluru Water Crisis: Due to the lack of Cauvery water supply and drought conditions, the drinking water crisis is deepening in parts of Bengaluru, and Karnataka, due to which people are seen standing in long queues in front of water tankers and water supply stations.

In a video shared by news agency ANI, people are seen standing in a queue for water. People are facing a shortage of drinking water in areas like Whitefield, Mahadevapura, and RR Nagar of Bengaluru.

How long will the water supply remain closed?

According to media reports, the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has announced a cut in water supply for 24 hours from Tuesday (February 27). This water supply will start from 6 am on 27th February and will continue till 6 am on 28th February.

BWSSB has announced a shutdown to perform necessary maintenance and install UFW (Unaccounted for Water) bulk flow meters.

According to an NDTV report, more than 200 talukas of the state have been declared drought-affected. People in drought-hit areas dependent on groundwater say they are paying double the normal cost of tankers to meet their daily water needs. Many people have been dependent on tanker water for a month. People say that one has to spend up to Rs 6000 for a tanker.
