Bharatiya Janata Party, BJP’s National President , Jagat Prakash Nadda who is known as JP Nadda, has resigned from his position as Rajya Sabha MP on March 4th. According to the latest news, his resignation has also been accepted by Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar. But the biggest question is why he suddenly resigned? What has happened?
The Rajya Sabha press release has announced, “Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, an elected Member of the Council of States (Rajya Sabha), representing the State of Himachal Pradesh, resigned his seat in Rajya Sabha and his resignation has been accepted by the Chairman, Rajya Sabha w.e.f. 4th March, 2024.” JP Nadda was elected to the upper house from Gujarat unopposed. He was among the 57 Rajya Sabha members whose tenure was ending in next April.
JP Nadda’s resignation came just a day after the BJP released their first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections which is going to be held in April-May. In the first list, the saffron party, BJP fielded many Rajya MPs to contest for the Lok Sabha. JP Nadda had started as BJP’s working president in 2019 when then party chief Amit Shah became a Union minister. But Nadda took up the full-time party presidency back in 2020. In January 2023, Nadda’s tenure as national president was extended till June 2024. “The tenure of JP Nadda as national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party has been extended till June 2024,” Amit Shah announced that time.
