BJP has requested the EC to ban the screening of films, displaying of the advertisements, and all the billboards also of actor Shivarajkumar. BJP has claimed that he is campaigning for Congress in the run-up to the LS polls. Earlier this week, the actor, Shivarajkumar was seen campaigning for his wife, in the Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency for the upcoming Loksabha polls.
OBC Morcha has written to the Election Commission!
“Given his significant influence and popularity, I earnestly request the Election Commission of India to take immediate action by issuing an order to cinema halls, TV channels, social media platforms, and local organizations, to refrain from displaying any films, advertisements, or billboards featuring Shivaraj Kumar until the conclusion of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” the complaint against the actor read.
The Election Commission previously clarified their stand. They have stating that only actors who are contesting elections could be barred from commercial screenings that is funded by public money. In a letter to the election commission, the Karnataka state president of BJP OBC Morcha Wing and senior BJP leader R Raghu has said that Shivarajkumar, who is a prominent figure in the state, is currently engaged in a “statewide election campaign for the Congress party”, holds a huge amount significant influence over the people through his cinematic work and “public persona.” “While we respect his right to participate in the democratic process, it is imperative to maintain a level playing field and prevent undue advantage or influence during the election period,” Raghu has said.
