Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Dipankar Datta given the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal 21 days of interim bail until June 1, because of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The Supreme Court, has given an interim bail to Arvind Kejriwal, on Friday set five conditions. Before being released from jail, Arvind Kejriwal has given a personal bond of ₹50,000. He can not visit the Chief Minister’s Office and the Delhi Secretariat. He cannot comment on his involvement in the Excise Policy case.
The top court has mentioned, during the hearing on Tuesday, the petition said it did not want Kejriwal to leave his official duties if he golets released on interim bail fof the election. The court later reserved the order. “Suppose we grant you interim bail on account of elections. Then if you say you will attend office, it may have a cascading effect. If we give you interim bail, we don’t want you to perform official duties as somewhere it will lead to a conflict of interest. We don’t want your interference at all in the working of the government,” the bench has said to Kejriwal’s counsel Abhishek Singhvi.
For many, Kejriwal’s arrest came as a stunning betrayal of the principles he had long championed. The former activist turned politician had built his career on a platform of transparency and accountability, promising to root out corruption from the highest levels of government. Now, he finds himself embroiled in a scandal that threatens to tarnish his legacy and undermine public trust in the political system.
