Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea, and those already at sea have been urged to return to shore immediately. The state government has also closed schools and colleges in the coastal districts as a precautionary measure.

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held a meeting with officials to review the preparedness and ensure that all necessary measures are in place. “Our priority is to ensure the safety of the people. We are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to respond to any emergency,” she said. Heavy rainfall is expected to cause flooding in several parts of the state, especially in the districts of East Midnapore, South 24 Parganas, and North 24 Parganas. The IMD has also warned of storm surges that could inundate coastal areas, leading to significant damage to property and infrastructure.
