The second and last Chief Minister of the leftist regime, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, passed away at the age of 80 years. On Thursday morning, the news of Buddhadeb Babu’s death was informed by his son Suchetan Bhattacharya. He took his last breath at his home on Palm Avenue at 8.20 pm.
The Former Chief Minister Was Suffering From CPD
On July 29, he was admitted in critical condition to a private hospital in Alipore, South Kolkata. Buddhadev Babu returned from the hospital on August 9. Was suffering from pneumonia. Then he was diagnosed with a serious infection in his lungs and respiratory tract. Again the former Chief Minister fell ill. He was suffering from severe respiratory disease (CPD) for a long time.
The Left Side Regime Lost A Piller Today
Buddhadev Bhattacharya became an active name in the left-hand politics through the Food Movement. Before that, he studied literature at the Presidency University. No, he did not fight in the field during his time in student politics. He joined the CPM(Communist Party of India (Marxist)party in 1966. Just two years later, he was elected as the Secretary of The Democratic Youth Federation of West Bengal. After that, he became a member of the West Bengal State Committee of CPM. Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was elected the Chief Minister of Bengal from 2000 to 2011. His political and intellectual power were also acknowledged by his opponents as well.
Long-time comrade and CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury described the news of Mr. Bhattacharjee’s death as “shattering”. “His dedication to the party, West Bengal, our shared ideals, and also his ability to look ahead will always function as a lodestar,” he said.
