This year, Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated with great pomp in the Idgah grounds of Karnataka, a state in South India. During this time, a grand statue of Bappa will also be installed there and worship will be performed. This is because, on Friday (September 15, 2023), Hubli-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) Commissioner Ishwar Ullagaddi gave approval in this regard to the organizer Rani Channamma Maidan Gajanan Utsav Troupe.
Late in the evening, Ullagaddi handed over the letter to the congregation regarding permission to install the idol of Lord Ganesha on the Idgah grounds. After this, while talking to news agency ANI, he said, “As per the instructions of the High Court, we have given approval to celebrate Ganesh Mahotsav for three days at Idgah ground.” Listen to what he said about it:
By the way, earlier the Karnataka High Court had clearly refused to stay the proposal related to allowing Ganeshotsav in the grounds. Actually, Anjuman-e-Islam had challenged the proposal of August 31. Also, a petition was filed in this regard on Thursday (September 14, 2023). Further, this petition was heard by Justice Sachin Shankar Magdum in the Dharwad bench of the High Court on Friday.
Anjuman Trust claims a 999-year lease on over an acre of land. The trust has said in its petition that the corporation’s proposal, which has been sent to the state government for approval, is “completely illegal and arbitrary.” The petition claimed that granting permission violates the Karnataka Municipal Corporation Act and places of worship. There is a violation of the provisions of the Act.
