The Election Commission of India has announced on Thursday, 14th March , the list of entities who had purchased electoral bonds to make political donations. The highest donor, the Lottery King, donated bonds worth ₹1,368 crore. He is the owner of Future Gaming and Hotel Services Private Limited. The name of this Lottery King who runs this company is, Santiago Martin. But the shocking news is, this man has started from zero! He started his career as a labourer in Myanmar’s Yangon! And today he donated the highest amount of electoral bond worth of ₹1368 crore.

How Santiago Martin became a millionaire from a labourer?

According to the charitable trust of Santiago Martin, he  started his career as a labourer in Myanmar’s Yangon. In 1988, Martin had returned to India and started his own lottery business in Tamil Nadu. After some years Santiago Martin expanded his business in Karnataka and Kerala too and then he planned to move into the northeast India. In the northeast India, he started his business by handling the government lottery schemes. He then took his business offshore by launching entities in Bhutan and Nepal! Then he expanded into other businesses, like construction, real estate, textiles and hospitality.

“He is also the President of All India Federation of Lottery Trade and Allied Industries – an organization engaged for uplifting and infusing credibility to the lottery trade in India. Under his stewardship, his enterprise, Future Gaming Solutions India Pvt. Ltd. became a member of the prestigious World Lottery Association and is expanding into the field of Online Gaming & Casinos and Sports Betting,” the website also informs. Future Gaming currently operates in 13 Indian states. Although only in those states the lottery is still legal , those are, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Goa, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Sikkim, and West Bengal, Nagaland and Sikkim.
