India's First C-295 Aircraft Introduced by Rajnath Singh

On Monday, September 25, India’s first C-295 transport aircraft was formally inducted into the Indian Air Force. The induction makes an important moment in India’s defence history because, now the Indian air force aircraft is capable of taking off and landing from unprepared landing grounds which will bolster the medium-lift tactical capability of the IAF and make India self-reliant. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh l inducted the transport aircraft to the Indian Air Force in the presence of Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and other top military officials in Ghaziabad.“This medium lift tactimedium-liftt is capable of taking off and landing from unprepared landing grounds and it will replace the HS-748 Avro aircraft. The induction of C-295 will bolster medium lift tact the ical capability of the IAF. The Defence and Aerospace sectors are the two important pillars for making India self-reliant in coming years,” Mr Singh said on social media after the event.

This new-gen C295 Airbus is a highly versatile transport that is made for missions that range from carrying troops and cargo to maritime patrol to signals intelligence and medical evacuation. The C-295 raft can carry up to nine tonnes of payload or as many as 71 troops at a maximum cruise speed of 260 knots and is capable of performing special missions, disaster response and maritime patrol duties.

Under the deal, Airbus will ver the first 16 aircraft in ‘fly-away’ condition from its final assembly line by 2025 and the subsequent 40 aircraft will be manufactured and assembled by Tata Advanced Systems (TASL) in India as part of an industrial partnership between the two companies.
